amazing mobile phone from Sweden

amazing mobile phone from Sweden

Last week at the 3GSM in Cannes the people from Neonode managed to hide their amazing mobile phone from me and most of the rest of the world by putting their info flyers in the press room somewhere near the end of the show. Nevertheless, the phone is small and light (86 grams), has an optical touchscreen, a Windows CE OS, MP3 and MPEG1/4 player, Internet Explorer web browser, GPRS (no EDGE), a full SD slot, but believe it or not, no email client (yet?). Bluetooth would be nice too to use it as an external modem, but maybe they will create an update, where a bluetooth module hides in the battery...

Just tried out Google maps using IE6 on a Windows PC (yes, some of these still exist and work quite fine...) and I was stunned. The best web based app I have ever seen! Now if they only added some maps outside the US and Safari support...

Toshiba ultra high res LCDs

At the 3GSM in Cannes Toshiba Semiconductor showed LCDs with more than 200 ppi. A 480*640 that fits even in very small mobile phones and a 5" with 1024*600 resolution, that would be nearly perfect for handheld PCs. Theu also had Organic LEDs there. Very thin and no backlight needed, but the resolution is still much less than on LCDs.

new DEVONagent for Mac OS X

DEVONtechnology brought out a new version of their DEVONagent for Mac OS X. I just tried it out for a minute and it solves quite a lot of problems I had with searching on the web. Unlike if you go directly to Google , it gives you not only the links of the search results, but the real content and a summary, too. Definitively worth trying out!

Dial Up Networking on GSM Treo650 enabled again

Shadowmite has done it again. Even before the official release of the Palm Treo650 GSM he has created a patch to enable Bluetooth Dial Up Networking (DUN). Great work! It´s just weird, that we need people like Shadowmite to enable features on Palm devices, that should have been included from the beginning.
