Setting up Einstein for networking

If you want to emulate the Apple Newton on MacOSX, then read Setting up Einstein for networking. As of this writing (nov 2nd, 2012) only Einstein for OS X supports Ethernet networking by emulating an NE2000 PCMCIA card. You will need the newest version of Einstein from code.google.com, the original US MP2100 ROM (717006), and some patience., In return you will get a Netwon that has the correct time, connects to the Internet, and syncs with your Mac via NCX.

EinsteinOnAndroid

EinsteinOnAndroid is NewtonOS running on any Android 2.2 device and up. Speed is not perfect, yet, but on 1GHz CPUs or up, performance is already pretty impressive.

Samsung Galaxy Note

Samsung started to sell the Samsung Galaxy Note, a mobile phone/tablet with 1280*800 pixels 5.3" display, microSD slot (compatible with 64GB microSDXC!), WLAN, Bluetooth, GPS, RDS-FM-radio and a pen. There are models in dark blue and white, with 16 or 32GB internal flash memory, with or without NFC, with or without LTE and even a model for Korea with built in DMB TV tuner. VNC and RDC sessions on this device are just amazing and some clever programmers already ported the Einstein NewtonOS emulator to the Galaxy Note. This might be the device, that I have been waiting for since the cancelling of the Newton project at Apple. Absolutely the best device since the Newton 2100! Biggest wow-factor! Stunning! Highest recommendation! Right now it uses Android 2.3. An Android 4 update (Ice Cream Sandwich) is announced for Q1/2012.

The Samsung Galaxy Note is an Android 2.3 based mobile phone with a 5.3” WXGA (1280x800, 285ppi) HD Super AMOLED screen. Available with 16 or 32GB internal Flash. Expansion via microSD up to 32GB. Size is 146.85*82.95*9.65 mm. Weight unknown, yet. THis could be my dream device for the coming years! Absolutely biggest wow factor! Could be my Newton successor! Update: weight seems to be around 180 grams. Version with and without LTE are planned.
