Are you sure about the 720p thing?
I was using one today, and, while I was initially sure that it did allow 720p, I couldn't find any way of getting it to actually run that way...
In the end, we shot 1080i, which wasn't ideal, but I couldn't find any mention of how to set it to 720p....
(It could do 576p/480p, which is nice, but no progressive in high-def)
Pretty sure. I will check tomorrow about the details...
The professional version of the Sony HDR-FX1 is called Sony HVR-Z1E. I just looked up the official specs from Sony, where it states: also for recordings in HDV standards 720/25p, 720/30p, 720/50p und 720/60p
