Pioneer PDP 5000 EX display 1080i signal from computer
Yesterday I took my 15" PowerBook and some cables (VGA, DVI and HDMI), went to the nearest Media Markt, a huge electronics retailer and tried to connect to some high definition (1080) TVs. To make a long story very short. Of all the exhibited LCD and Plasma displays, only the Pioneer PDP 5000 EX was able to display 1920*1080 directly via DVI2HDMI cable without any scaling, cropping or other visual errors. Even TVs costing nearly 20000 Euros did not accept the 1920*1080i signal from my PowerBook. Any experiences with other displays?

HP LP2465 24 inch pivot monitor
For a few days I had the opportunity to test the HP LP2465, a 24" LCD monitor with WUXGA (1920*1200) native resolution. The built in stand lets you pivot the screen and fortunately my ATI based Powerbook supports screen rotation on external monitors. Great for reading PDFs!

100 years of Gutruf
On 12/04 the German language book Das Gutruf was presented in Vienna, Austria. If you know Vienna, you know the "Gutruf", if you don´t know the "Gutruf", you definitively don´t know Vienna. The atmosphere there is more Sicilian than anything I have seen north of Sicily ;-)
