HEROLD mobile
Herold announced HEROLD mobile, an offline version of the Austrian white pages telephone directory for PocketPCs and Symbian60 Second Edition devices. Comes on 256MB miniSD or RS-MMC and takes about 160MB. You can easily copy those 160MB to a bigger 2GB card, as the application is tied to your IMSI-number, so you can have your local Wikipedia on your phone, too. Cost is 30 Euros including updates for 6 months, another 12 months is 20 Euros. If someone calls you and supplies his callerID, it shows you name and other contact data. It even allows you to find the name and address, if you just know the telephone number. Updates should be possible with MacOSX, too, at least manually.

Senko ScreenGuard45
With the Senko ScreenGuard45, screen visibility is blocked by a black image when viewed from outside a 45° angle, protecting your privacy. Within the 45° angle, the ScreenGuard45 allows for clear display viewing with 90% transmittance. The ScreenGuard45 features an adhesive that allows it to be removed without leaving behind an adhesive residue.
The ScreenGuard45 Advanced includes the functions of the ScreenGuard45, but an image replaces the black screen visible from outside a 45° angle.
The ScreenGuard with Mirror Function combines the innovative features of the ScreenMirror and ScreenGuard45 into one screen filter. With the backlight off, the product produces a high quality mirror effect, and when viewed outside a 45° angle, the screen appears black. When viewed with the backlight on and within a 45° window, there is clear screen visibility

Firewire hot-pluggable, not cold-pluggable
It seems, that FireWire or IEEE1394 as it is officially called, is hot-pluggable, but not always cold-pluggable. That means, that self powered FireWire peripherals should be turned on and then plugged in, and afterwards unplugged and then turned off. Supposedly many problem with Firewire peripherals, especially hard drives, can be solved through this handling.

Austrian Porsche Carrera 911 Targa4 premiere
On 11/6 at 7am (no kidding!) the brand new Porsche 911 Carrera Targa4 will be shown for the first time in Austria on the first floor of Juwelier Wagner. Keep in mind that in Austria the first floor is the first floor above ground floor, so a crane will be used to put the more than 2500 pound Porsche through the window into the shop on the second floor. In case you like to get up early in the morning, or if you are near and haven´t yet gone to bed, give it a look.
Update: This morning at the incredible early morning time of 7am a brand new Porsche Carrera 911 Targa 4 was moved by a crane to the Belle Etage of Juwelier Wagner at Kärntner Straße 32 in Vienna, Austria. Notice that the 1808 mm wide Porsche was moved through a 2200 mm wide window without touching or crashing anything, even though there are severe storms in Vienna right now.. The car and the Porsche Design Timepieces, i.e. Porsche Design watches, can be seen there until 11/18.
