HP Compaq tc1100 Tablet PC
Just received a HP Compaq tc1100 Tablet PC, and I definitively like the form factor and the styling a lot. Tablets without keyboards are a hassle, if you need to type a few characters, and the convertible tablets just look awkward to me. It includes WLAN, Bluetooth, PCcard and SD slots, and some real hardware buttons, that are great for scrolling in long documents. I still don´t like the active digitizer, that is required for a "real" tablet PC, as you can´t use your finger or fingernail instead of the pen. On the other hand, the screen is even visible in direct sunlight, so I will test it a lot in the next few days.

Fujitsu 7010 subnotebook
I just returned a Fujitsu 7010 subnotebook, that I tested for a few days. Pretty impressive. A wonderful 1280*768 WXGA display, that is visible even in direct sunlight, WLAN, PCcardType2, CompactFlash, SD and MemoryStick slots, a built in DVD-RW, that you can remove and install an optional second battery instead of, and all weighing just 1,3 kgs. The only thing missing is a built in Bluetooth adapter and a decent operating system. I used it with a VNC client over WLAN most of the time connected to a MacOSX 10.4 PowerBook 15", but pretty soon it should be possible to install a real MacOSX on it somehow...

Slingbox soon in PAL version?
The Slingbox allows you to place-shift your TV signal, either from its built in analog TV tuner or from a DVD, set top box, ... connected to its video input ports. You need an internet connection with at least 256kbps uplink and right now a Windows PC to watch your TV from anywhere in the world, where you have a decent internet connection. A PAL version should be available soon, and clients for MacOSX, PocketPC and PalmOS are rumored to be in development. Technically the Slingbox just unicasts a video signal via a Windows Media 9 codec to one connected client, so no fears from the media monsters because of copyright issues.
