the Microsoftification of Apple?
Just found this at http://www.hackint0sh.org: Stocks & Weather apps send your IMEI (and more?) to Apple. Just sad. Hopefully the upcoming mobile phones with the Google/LinuxOS will arrive ASAP.
Update: Heise Online says it has confirmed that the information sent is not the IMEI, but rather just an identifier for the application.

For Apple users, private or commercial, whatever grade - iPhone user or not- clandestine to send the IMEI (thats like scanning clandestine for your genome) home to the mother-ship is a hard slap in the face by a iron fist.
On-top of the humiliation.
Even worse - doing is one thing, but be caught red handed by a bystander is more then both added together - this provocation cannot be undone ever,
Apple became worse then Microsoft (ever could be through their lousy OS / software anyhow).
A shame.
