One Xmas party at SmartSpace, no plans to sell to T-mobile a third time
On 12/13 there was the annual One Xmas party at the One SmartSpace in Vienna, Austria. Their new CEO, Michael Krammer was there, too. He has been one of the leading guys behind the success of max.mobil, the second GSM operator in Austria. When T-mobile bought max.mobil and immediately killed the brand "max", which at that time was one of the best new brands in Austria, he left for tele.ring, at that time the smallest Austrian GSM operator. Within a short time frame he built tele.ring into a hugely sucessful low cost provider. Tele.ring became so successful, that T-mobile bought it and its more than one million customers for 1.3 billion Euros. Michael Krammer left again, as he obviously didn´t want to work for T-mobile and became the CEO of E-plus in Germany. In summer 2007 he came back to Austria to become CEO of One/Connect Austria, the number three GSM operator in Austria, now owned by Orange. When I asked him, if he wanted to make One even more sucessful, as they already are, so they might be bought by T-mobile, too, he definitively told me, that Orange, the new owner of One has a strong commitment to the Austrian GSM market, and has no plans at all to sell to T-mobile, ever. About the possibility of selling the Apple iPhone he was quite clear, that Orange/One will sell the iPhone in 2008 as early as possible.
