Mobilkom Austria integrates GSM and SIP telephony

Mobilkom Austria integrates GSM and SIP telephony
Mobilkom Austria announced a friendly customer trial called A1 over IP, which integrates the biggest Austrian mobile phone network with over 3 million customers and the world of SIP based IP-telephony. When somebody calls you on your A1 (+43664) mobile phone number, your mobile phone AND your SIP client rings. When you call somebody via SIP client, they see your A1 (+43664) mobile phone number via CallerID. IMHO, this is one of the most disruptive technologies, I have seen this year. Pretty amazing. The future starts now! BTW: Mobilkom Austria is said to start a HSUPA trial before the end of this year.
Update: on 11/17 Mobilkom Austria showed live HSUPA in Vienna and said they will deliver real HSUPA services in the beginning of 2007.

For Mac users it there is the possibility to use the free X-Lite from Counterpath as client to participate in the trial, while other Mac SIP clients sometimes have problems.
